It's been at my son's primary for a couple of years and seems like fun to me. They get a topic each term and explore it in a real life way. Usually it's in year groups, but this term the whole school's had 'The World Cup'. Each class got a country to support/ investigate, so they found out all about that country in terms of geography, history, culture. They've done presentations to other classes on their country/ assemblies/ displays. Broadly it's just teaching round a theme as far as I can see. My son's school still do more traditional subjects in the morning, so maths, literacy, then do IPC after lunch. I have no idea if that's normal for IPC, but it seems to work well.

Our school is entering the second year of IPC and I feel like it was a breath of fresh air. We retain maths and English separately and everything else falls into IPC. My children are inspired and excited and often come home to do further research on their topics.

We receive an outline each term (or half term if it is a short topic) and it is split into science/geography etc so you can see exactly what they are doing. I find it is a great way to encourage school to home learning as you can clearly see what they are going to be learning about.

For us, there have not really been any noticeable negatives, although sometimes the topic might not be that inspiring for your child, e.g. DS1 just went through the motions for Electricity but has been completely enthralled by others.
