Hi there, I am totally new to this, so I apologise in advance for typos, bad Mumsnet etiquette etc
My DD (8) has language processing disorder a recent diagnosis. We are moving her from her current main stream school to a smaller main stream school. We haven't found a specialist school that we think will suit her needs socially, equally as important as the academic side for any 8 yr old bubbly and communicative as mine...
We would like to put into place a permanent LSA within school for her ideally one with experience with children in a speech and language issues, although I realise this is a big ask. If anyone knows where I can start looking for this I would be enormously grateful. We are also keen for any recommendations of a speech and language therapist in the Berks/Bucks area.
In fact any advice at all in this field would be gratefully received.
Thank you for reading.

When you say "we", are the school advertising for an LSA for this? Does your DD have a statement with hours attached to it?
The school could advertise for an ELKLAN qualified TA, this is quite a long course so someone who has already done it is a huge advantage. What sort of support ave the NHS SALT arranged. If they have suggested specialist provision would be appropriate they should be providing support in mainstream- up to 1 hour a week would be ideal.

Have you applied for a statement or education healthcare plan? Who gave the diagnosis, are they still seeing your daughter?

My son has verbal dyspraxia and we are applying for extra support either in the form of guaranteed S&L and classroom support or a place at a speech and language unit.
