I tend to leave my DSs (y2 and reception) to do their homework without me standing over them. I find they work harder, and get the work done much quicker and with less fuss, if they can't turn to me to ask for the answers.

Yes that s what I do mostly but sometimes they come home with some "dear helper, help your child ..........." sort homework. Then I will have problem with dd.

Nope, DD (yr1) and DS (yr4) crack on with it by themselves (their choice) however they know they can come to me if they are stuck.
