And I'm so excited to find out which class/teacher dd will have for reception in September! Is that sad?! She's my first.

No!
There is just one reception class when ds starts in sept, so while we're still waiting for our parents meeting, it helps being able to say Mrs X will be your teacher when talking to him about school

Unless of course the current yR teacher swaps to y2 or whatever...

I have seen parents getting caught out by teachers moving year groups at our single form entry school.

Oh that's unfortunate.
His teacher has emailed us and we waited for the official letter from the school before we mentioned teachers name

Nope, not sad at all. In fact I think I'm more excited with DD2 than when DD1 went. Unless of course we are both sad!
