Leeds - Carr Manor Primary School and Carr Manor Community School

Does anyone have experience of Carr Manor Primary in Leeds (Moortown/Meanwood borders) or the new primary section of Carr Manor Community school? I'd be very interested to hear thoughts /experiences positive or negative as we are relocating to Leeds and possibly moving to this area. Thanks.

Both are very good schools - the Community school is brand new and will have Reception, Y1 and Y2 in September. A friend's ds goes there and seems to be doing very well.

Thanks Feenie. They both have really good ofsteds (which I know isn't everything but is reassuring all the same) but I noticed Carr Manor Community school was on the list of worst 200 schools in the country for GCSE results in 2012, which I've been feeling quite concerned about - I imagine that if we do move there that we'll still be in the area when dd and ds get to secondary age. Of course the results could all have changed by then anyway as dd and ds are only 4 and 1 now….

I share your concern - the secondary bit would be an option for ds. Am hoping the trend will continue until it's our turn to choose. I know a lot of parents whose dcs go to the high school and all seem happy. The head is very inspirational apparently, and the new build is fantastic. The Ofsted is very encouraging.

Other options would be Carr Manor Primary, which is really good, and then Roundhay which is outstanding, but not sure we are near enough.

Yes, from what I hear Roundhay is massively oversubscribed and you'd have to be living really close to it to stand much chance of getting in.
Carr Manor Primary seem reluctant to let us look round because they are oversubscribed - but everywhere else is too, and we need to go on waiting lists somewhere…. very frustrating, especially as I'd heard good things about them.
Thanks for your replies Feenie, they're very helpful.

Yes, we are all chocca, I do feel for you. Places do come up though in nearly every class though; good luck Smile
