literacy - to music?

My ds has just come home from his first day in yr4 and has had a great time. Really thrilled that his new teacher let them do their literacy to pop music! ds said it was ok though because he had it turned down to medium and it helped him to concentrate. (not sure if he is just repeating what his teacher told him though)
Anyone else out there experienced this or have any thoughts on it?

thanks for that. I would have been a bit less surprised if he had said classical. Oh well, we'll see how it goes!
