If "tough love" is used to describe discipline are you suggesting discipline is unfair?

Would you prefer just tough, or all love and no discipline?

I would describe my discipline of DD as tough love - she knows she is loved, but I'm hard on her to make sure she behaves the best she can. My 'toughness' is done out of love for her - a desire to give her the best chances in life...
