primary taking academy status

I got a consultation letter about my dc'so school wanting to become an academy. I don't know too much about academies but I'm feeling like this isn't a good thing.
The school has been struggling, lost a lot of staff this year including the head who was sacked. They currently have 2 heads from another school overseeing things and have appointed a head for September. They have appointed the current deputy who has been there one year so not sure it's the best time to break from the lea.
There's a parent meeting tomorrow so hopefully I'll find out more then but I'm not liking the idea.
Any thoughts on what I should ask our what I should know?

Our primary is an academy and nowt has changed, just the logos. We have also got loads of new books and equipment. So for our struggling inner city primary it's been a positive experience.

Being thick .I have tried to pm you back .but not sure if it went through.
It is the same school.
I bet alot of the parents are relieved after the meetings.
I hear the two stand in head teachers have so far done an excellent job.

Yes, it did come through Smile
Yes, they have. It has improved, but tbh it couldn't have got much worse. The last head we had was just awful, completely out of her depth. I've been up there complaining a number of times and told them I would pull my children out.
Last year they lost 27 teaching staff. 27. Much better since the new heads have been in. One of them will stick around for a while to help the deputy in his transition to head, so that'll be good.

I think if one of them is prepared to hang around to help that will really help the moral of the school.
Do you think the parents are happier now.?

I didnt realise it was 27 staff that left. Are the staff that are there now good.

Yes, I agree. I have no idea what the other parents felt. I went with a friend of mine who wasn't sure if she felt any better about it. It was a convincing argument though
