My son has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia and I am looking for a specialist tutor to help him. There is a degree or urgency as he is transferring to secondary school in September. Can anyone help with any recommendations? I'm based in SW London - Balham/ Tooting/ Wandsworth area.

You should Google PATOSS tutors and those registered by the BDA. You should find some listed for your area.

Thanks ArabellaRockerfella. Do you have any recommendations I wonder?

There is a dyslexia school/centre in Hammersmith I once spoke to, on behalf of friends - I can't remember their name, but will find out if you like. Maybe too far? They assess needs, and then provide support in or out of school hours for as many/few hours per week as needed.

Not sure if thats what you're looking for, but thought I'd mention it in case!

If you could find out that would be fabulous and I'd be very grateful. I have found a similar centre at London Bridge but I think the Hammersmith centre sounds as if as if they might have more flexibility in terms of hours...

The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre near Farnham often run holiday courses ( touch typing, study skills, reading and writing etc) that can also provide additional support. They also run occasional sessions for parents. Maybe worth a look for the summer holidays? They also train teachers on how to support kids with dyslexia.

Sure - found it: Emerson House. They have a website, do have a look Smile
