Have you heard from your child's school yet? If so when did you?

I've heard nothing from the school yet..but seems like everyone else I know has! I wish I had contacted the school this last week but now I'll have to wait till after half term! Has anyone else heard nothing??

I've heard nothing. When I accepted the place online it stated that they'd be in touch, but nothing as of yet.

Juno321 · 24/05/2014 10:28

Glad it isn't just me then!

Its not unusual to not hear untill June/July, this past half term is always busy with SATS, phonics tests and other things going on. If they have settling in sessions for the new intake this usually happens in the last couple of weeks when the other year groups move up a year for their settling in sessions in their new classes (freeing up space in the reception class for those sessions). Dont worry you will hear next half term but schools have other prioritys before June.

DoYouKnowTheMuffinMan · 24/05/2014 10:36

We've had a pack sent to our home a week or so ago with all the forms to fill in like consent forms then we need to take them back at an appointment in June along with his birth certificate and NI number where we get told who his teacher is and those type of things

louisejxxx · 24/05/2014 12:40

I haven't heard anything either - I've just filled out an email form on their website asking if/when there'll be a parents info evening, preempting them coming back after half term, so the email should be sitting waiting until then. I'm really worried all the settling in things will be on the one week we are away for in July!

scottie54 · 24/05/2014 17:22

I asked the school office last week, they said they don't send anything out until end June/beg July time as they wait to see outcome of any appeals. Pan is just 20, so understandable I guess to have just one parents meeting then one settling day

FreeSpirit89 · 24/05/2014 17:48

We still haven't heard (kent) and when I spoke to the school on Friday the letters hadn't even been drawn up yet.

mammadiggingdeep · 25/05/2014 10:10

That's a bit late though?? We had a letter to invite us to a parents meeting at the end of June and a teddy bears picnic for the children start if July.

Maybe yours don't have a settling in session/ induction.

Juno321 · 25/05/2014 19:03

They definitely do as we were told when we went to visit the school there would be three settling in sessions, can't remember if they said in June or July. Will give it till just after half term and maybe ring them then.

Haven't heard anything either. I think it's still early if you are in an area with a lot of movement. We in are in London and got our third choice. We have already gone from 16th to 8th on the waiting list for our second choice school and I haven't called to ask again in the last two weeks so it has probably moved again. There is still a lot of re-offering of places happening (at least where we are).

RueDeWakening · 27/05/2014 11:53

We had our letter a couple of weeks ago, along with forms for ordering uniform, personal info (emergency contact details etc) for the children, some other bits to complete. We have a meeting at school in the middle of June when the children will meet their class & teacher, and the parents will have a talk about how school works from the head teacher/PTA/etc.

We're in London too, so perhaps it depends on borough.

trikken · 27/05/2014 11:55

I haven't, though it seems that others that will be in her year had a letter on fri. Hoping something turns up soon.

LittleMissGreen · 27/05/2014 12:35

Our school have an induction meeting on the 'common transfer day' so all children in the school move up a year as the year 6s try out their new secondary schools. This leaves the reception staff with a free day to meet their new charges. It tends to be the beginning of July.

nikki1391 · 27/05/2014 14:33

I got a letter from my daughters school about 2-3 weeks ago asking me to bring birth certificate, proof of address etc for last week. My mum bring it as I was at work and they gave her a bunch of forms ( emergency contacts, medical needs, consent for pictures to be taken etc) for me to bring anytime before 8th july. On 8th july the have a reception meeting where the children and parents have a chance to meet their classmates and teacher (there's 2 reception classes). My managers son started school last year and even said she thought it was early for the school to be contacting me for paperwork as they done her sons in june/july...I too thought it was early but I guess every school is different

jaabaar · 30/05/2014 12:53

I heard that the parents pf children who got school place in first round have been informed
We got place in second round and have not received any info. Will contact school on Monday.

BlueChampagne · 30/05/2014 13:31

We've already had a letter about dates for induction visits for child and parents (Cambs). But it probably helps that he's already in the pre-school on the same site.

Littlefish · 30/05/2014 16:40

We have the first meeting for new reception parents next week, so the information pack was sent out 10 days ago.

Georgina1975 · 30/05/2014 18:14

We had an information pack including consent forms etc. 2 weeks ago. Nothing about uniforms though. Teacher coming for home visit 25 June and parents meeting the same evening. Cannot remember when DD goes in for settling sessions Blush

boringlivingroom · 31/05/2014 07:01

Yes although they messed up - sent the letter too late so couldn't make the first new parent meeting Hmm

This does not bode well.

WhispersOfWickedness · 31/05/2014 07:45

It must be to do with how much movement there is and how soon they can finalise the class lists. DS is going to a little undersubscribed village school, there will be 7 in reception, and they all already go to the attached preschool. We had the parents meeting at the beginning of May when we were given all the forms, and the DC have been going to spend half an hour or so with the reception teacher once a week since the middle of the spring term i.e. before the offers went out!!

turkeyboots · 31/05/2014 07:55

I have not heard anything from school. But as DD is already there I was checking the website and found all in the info on the welcome evening which is next week. Am sure new parents might miss the well hidden useful info bit of the website.

So if you haven't heard anything scour their website.
