Oxford Owl book colours different?

I'm getting very confused by book colours on this Oxford Owl website. If you click on a book it says e.g.'Oxford level 5/yellow' but on the book it says it is green. It says 'Oxford level 2/green' on books that are red.

Is the website just wrong, or is there another book level classification scheme where the colours are different?

ORT use their own colour system for their books which pre-dates the book band colours. So stage 2 is green, stage 5 is yellow.

The bookbands were created to help schools that use more than scheme level/match books from different schemes with each other. They used different colours to the ORT ones. Usually the books will show both the ORT colour and the book band colour.

To complicate matters slightly there isn't an exact match between the colour systems. So, Stage 2/green actually has books banded at red, yellow and blue levels. Similarly any given bookband will contain books from a number of different ORT stages.

haha - no you never get to understand it all - that would make life too easy for people.

I think part of the problem with ORT books is that lots of the older ones they put in stage whatever they chose have been re-evaluated/assessed (not sure of the right word) at different book bands so you will find, especially non fiction ones are actually 2 levels or so harder than the stage number. New copies of the books now say on them (normally with a little coloured circle and text on the back) what book band they come in. our school still just has them in the stages though. 2-3 levels difference can be quite noticeable when children bring them home.
