My Dd is doing level 5 and 6. If she doesn't do well on level 6 will this go against her or do they just use the level 5 scores. Don't know where she is going yet for secondary so unsure if the school use the results or not.

If she doesn't achieve level 6 she will achieve whatever she gets on the level 3-5 paper - her score on that wouldn't be penalised at all I don't think.

TheEnchantedForest · 13/05/2014 17:15

they just get the level 3-5 result in that case. It is not reported how many took the level 6 paper and didn't achieve it -nationally or to next schools.

Thanks. We haven't had any information from the school apart from being told what she was entered for. She has probably done ok but isn't confident. Smile

As above- it's no problem at all if she doesn't achieve level 6, she'll just be awarded whatever she got on the 3-5 paper.

spanieleyes · 13/05/2014 20:25

Conversely, if she messes up the 3-5 paper and only gets a level 4, she can't be awarded a level 6 on that paper, even if she achieves it!!
( However I'm sure this won't be the case!!)

Hi HouseofEliot:

I think the way to look at it is the school is saying that they believe your DC can perform at Level 6.

Only a very small percentage achieve NC L6 in England nationally, but from this year(? I think) individual schools will report how many pupils actually achieve NC L6 (can't find the link to new release on this - so not entirely sure if this is still happening or not).

As others have said - not attaining NC L6 is unlikely to be reported on the official transcript. Attaining NC L5 is a fantastic achievement and being in the pool of pupils the school felt could also attain NC L6 is quite a compliment.

Thanks. It turns out they are doing the level 6 in a small room near the reception classes. The children are very noisy playing with lego/construction and shouting. Not very good organisation from the school. I am proud of her whatever she achieves.
