Can I ask my DD teacher to tutor her?

Would you approach your DC teacher (Y1) to ask for tutoring?
Unfortunately she struggles with literacy (writing). We would like to work on it in the summer ( we do a lot at home at the moment). Do you think asking her teacher is a good idea?

If she advertises as a tutor I don't see why not.
It would be a bit weird and unprofessional to just approach and ask though and probably not permitted.
Do you not think she's had enough of kids by the summer?
Why not ask other parents for recommendations for tutors or look for local people advertising.
If she is at school and doing a lot with you at home, isn't this enough?

Personally I will be giving my year 1 child a much needed break over the summer. They work hard in school, the summer holidays is there to give them a breather before the hard work in year 2.

Yr 1 does seem a bit young to be starting to worry about schoolwork in the holiday, apart from what you do yourself.

However, if you do want to do this, I would approach the teacher and ask if she can recommend anyone - which gives her the option if she is interested, without embarrassing you or her, if she's not!

Is the teacher also a tutor?

I do not know if she is a tutor, would like to have a rest from kids, etc...

Will the teacher still be your DD's class teacher in September? Or will your DD be in a different class?
I think it is odd to have a class teacher tutoring a member of their own class, it sort of blurs the lines between her professional role as school teacher and her paid role as tutor.
You could ask her for a recommendation though.

My DD will have a new teacher from September.
Ok, I understand it's not common to ask teacher for tutoring. Thanks for your replies:)
