Gathering info for an appeal

Sorry for not being at all knowledgable on this but who do I contact to find out the infant school class sizes, the school itself or the LEA? Also how do I find out if the LEA made a mistake on their places offered on distance (I missed the school on the next street to me by 48 feet and was allocated a place almost 4 miles away) Do I ask them to look them over again and will they do this? I doubt they'll give me the address of the furthest place offered for data protection reasons so that I can measure it myself so I would just have to take their word for it that they didn't make a mistake. I know it's up to me to gather the data to ensure a successful appeal but just don't know where to start.
Thank you to anyone who can help me on this unfortunate learning curve.

The LEA will be able to provide you with any information you need for your appeal. They will be able to tell you about admission numbers and the distance or the furthest allocated place.

In our area the stats for distances offered by school are already on the web site to help people see where there are spaces etc

Thank you for clearing some things up AND telling me what PAN stood for :). I'd read it a few times and didn't have a clue! I'll double check that the address info they have for me is 100% correct but having just read another thread on here it seems like we too are in a black spot -so many schools on our doorstep and their catchment this year just didn't quite reach us. Feel so sad for my little girl :(.
