Prep schools

Hi, we are looking to move house to anywhere in the country due to flexibility of work and we are looking for a prep school 7-13 which is not a hot house for top schools/results.

We would prefer a school which is small (around 100/120ish kids) and places emphasis on doing outdoorsy things, kids making their own games, lots of sport, children being children rather than spoon fed for the exams. Quite a traditional prep school really.
Obviously we want our kids to learn the usual stuff and Latin would be a good addition but we would be happy with a small family prep that nurtures each and every child for who they are.

All suggestions welcomed. Experiences and explanations if possible (just to help with shortlisting)

I think the Bedales group of schools (Dunannie, Dunhurst and Bedales) would be what you are looking for.

HanSolo, we are just doing what suits our DCs best, you said yourself, one school doesn't necessarily fit all.

Thanks CharlesRyder we've had a look and we might be taking an even closer look because they seem to be what were looking for.

We are about to relocate to Sherborne and actually I think Sherborne Prep would also fit your requirements. I am looking forward to DS going there in September.

Have a look at Winterfold House school in Chaddesley Corbett, Worcestershire - it seems to match many of the things you are looking for, although it's a bit bigger as it goes from nursery up to 13yrs

Sunningdale looked like the kind of school you've described in Britain's Youngest Boarders. Google for it and you'll find the video on that well known video site :)
