Help I think H may have cocked up primary school application

There is no info online. Friends have heard their allocation and when I asked what the web page looks like ours doesn't have the option to check. H did not get an email confirming the choice of school. If he accidentally didn't finish or submit the application what happens? Will DD get any school at all?

I would ring your local authority first thing. I guess of your H didn't apply properly you may have to go through the appeals process? Or apply as a late application as if you'd recently moved to the area? Are your local schools oversubscribed?

hotcrosshunny · 16/04/2014 19:32

Did he get an email confirming application?

TIL3 · 16/04/2014 19:44

Do you have a username & password for the admissions site?

NeedAdvice2014 · 16/04/2014 20:02

Username and password yes. Email confirming application no. The school round the corner is over subscribed. Bugger.

You should have a "view application" option?

If he didn't submit then you make a late application. Basically on the waiting lists after all other people have been sorted.

NeedAdvice2014 · 16/04/2014 20:23

No other people have all got that option not us. Late application will mean wherever has space takes her I assume, undersubscribed schools.

You can apply for schools you want but might not get a place - depends on waiting list movement.

TIL3 · 16/04/2014 20:49

Oh dear, from what you're saying it does sound like he didn't complete the application. I guess you'll be treated as a late applicant. Hope it works out for you.

wilkos · 16/04/2014 21:04

Friend of mine did this, username and password is the first email that comes through when you apply online, it basically gives you access to apply. You then log in, state your preferences, and confirm, then you get another email with details and confirmation of your application.

Friend of mine did this, when she realised she managed to squeeze in the application just before deadline.

Try not to worry too much or kill your DH he is probably not the only one to have done this. You will have to do an in year application and will probably be put on the waiting list for the school if it's oversubscribed.

I'm so sorry you must be so stressed Sad have one of these Wine

prh47bridge · 16/04/2014 22:17

As others have said it looks like this will be a late application. You are unlikely to get a place at one of your preferred schools but they will come up with a place for you somewhere. Also you may be at or near the head of the waiting list for your preferred schools - they can't put you at the back of the waiting list just because you applied late.

Thank you everyone. Please wish me luck in my discussion with the council tomorrow.

Certainly wishing you luck.

In a fortnight or so, when people have accepted their offers (or not) the LEA will have a clearer idea of where the vacancies are and how long waiting lists are.

Misfitless · 17/04/2014 01:12

I can completely see how this can happen!

Good luck in your phone calls tomorrow. Keep us posted.

mummytime · 17/04/2014 06:33

Get yourself put on the waiting lists now! You may just get a place in 2 weeks.

NeedAdvice2014 · 17/04/2014 06:54

Oh I hope so!!! Couple of hours until I can call, pleeeease let this get sorted.

mummytime · 17/04/2014 07:03

Just: stay calm. Try to make sure you are talking to someone who knows what they are doing - isn't just shipped in to man the phones today (if you suspect that - do ask if they normally work in admissions and ask to be transferred/called back if not).
As if any of the schools need handle their own waiting list - my LA was a bit misleading about this for secondary - as my first choice was Catholic and didn't automatically add you to the waiting list although other schools did, and I nearly missed being added).
Once you are added to the lists - unless a school has a space - you need to forget about it for 2 weeks at least, then you can start to ask where you are on waiting lists.

I will cross my fingers for you.

Have you killed your h!? DH and I were discussing this last night. I really feel for you OP :(
