Primary Schools in North Somerset

We have found a lovely house in North Somerset and, all being well, we will move there in the summer. However, I have no idea about the schools there and we will need to apply for a place for ds next year. The house is in Cleeve which is near Yatton, about 10 miles from Bristol. If anyone lives in that area and has some knowledge of the local schools, could you let me know what you think?

Have family in that area. I think your nearest primary school would be Court de Wyck which is good, but rather small. There is a larger primary school in Yatton, although it doesn't have such a good reputation. In the opposite direction, Backwell has a highly regarded infant and junior school (seperate but federated). Probably worth a visit to all three to see which would best suit you.

Hi
We moved to the area 6 wks before my son started school. We took a place at St Francis school in Nailsea. No places left anywhere else! Its absolutely brilliant as long as you are ok with the religion side. I think that this puts a lot of people off, so the classes are not full. It is so friendly and the kids love it. They get very good results as well. Currently 20 kids in the reception year with 1 teacher and a classroom assistant.
I know a couple of people who bring their children from Cleeve.
Otherwise the infant school in Backwell is well thought of but oversubscribed so you may not get a place from Cleeve.
We are Backwell/Nailsea based so I don't know about schools Yatton side

Thank you so much for your help. I will definitely look at Court de Wyck, St Francis and speak to Backwell about the catchment.

Glad to hear you are happy with St Francis. We are v excited to be moving in the summer from Bristol to Nailsea and also pleased to hear they had places, my son is in reception now so by time we get there he will be going into yr 1 in sept. Have heard lots of good things about it!
