Do you think this is too much homework for Year 2?

My DD and I are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of homework she gets every night. It's not a one off. Every night she gets something like this:

  1. Count in 2s from 0-32
  1. Worksheet on synonyms: read a short explanation of synonyms. Connect 4 pairs of synonyms by drawing a line between them (adore / love, sweater/jumper, truck/lorry, etc.). Find a synonym for 4 words: boat, ugly, exhausted, pebble.
  1. Read aloud 6 pages of a text book about children around the world and their education systems
  1. Finish learning off by heart a 20 line poem (which has been homework every night since Monday)

How does this compare with what your children in Yr 2 have to do?

that sounds a lot, we aren't in Yr2 yet but I THINK they get 15 spellings, reading every day and then a bit of maths and a bit of English once a week so they have the weekend to do it. well I hope that is the case anyway.
