hello there,i was wondering if there are any teaching assistants out there do you have to be good in maths?i am talking about primary education.i've been interested in teaching positions but i was very bad in maths i don't know anything about maths but i believe i will be a good teacher.i love teaching.before i was thinking about nursery nursering or childminding but i realised that teaching is what i want to do so please help.can i be a teacher if i am bad in maths?

You have to have GCSE maths and pass a maths competency test. Same as for English I think, It has changed since I did the training.

BTW I am not great at maths but have managed to teach it up to Year 6 OK.

Do you want to be a teacher or a teaching assistant, ivet84? You'd be ok with the assistant teaching i think. And while you are being a brilliant teaching assistant you could do some extra maths training and then upgrade to teaching proper if you want, maybe.

up to 11.
teaching assistant helps out in a class- v hands on, pay is fairly low
teacher is in charge of class- intresting work, pay is higher

there is a BTEC course from ICS learning for teaching assistants do you think is suitable?
