We are considering The Hall for DS. He is a bright and very competitive boy, so I expect him to fit right in. I am impressed with The Hall's leavers results as it seems to place many of its boys in top London day school eg Westminster, St. Paul's.

I am just wondering to what extent this is related to the school's efforts and whether there is a lot of parent support/ tutoring that goes on alongside? Any parents which children at The Hall?

Also is it true that the school tends to concentrate only on the children it identifies as Westminster material? In what Year does this sifting/ separation take place? ie if your child is not in the "top set" do they still get enough support from the school?

Are their children who end up leaving due to the pressure?

No specific knowledge, but you do know that you have to put the name down before the age of 1 for reception or year 1 entry? Has a reputation as being a tough school that takes no prisoners academically.

We have put DS down for The Hall as we live right opposite it. I have my doubts though. I'm not sure about the all boys thing, especially for such little ones, and just from daily observation the parents seem pretty stressed every morning. Damian Lewis' little boy is there though, we see him quite often! [frivolous post]

Oh wow Damien Lewis - one reason to definitely send DS there then ;) Yes DS is registered and will be going for the assessment. Just trying to decide whether we should go for it or not.

Interesting about the parents being stressed. I guess its an indication of its hothouse reputation then.
