Relocating to England from Scotland with 6yr old ds

My dh and I may have to relocate to the manchester area this summer following redundancies within our company. My ds is currently in primary 1 and will be 6 in June.

In his school they do a lot of active learning using interactive toys and outdoor learning. They also have a golden time period at the end of each week where a toy is allowed to be brought in as a reward for good behaviour. They are only just learning to read and write. The school promotes healthy eating and living but they do not stipulate what can and cannot be brought in as playtime snacks and in lunch boxes.

Can anyone tell me which year he would be registered for after the summer. Is the teaching methods very different in English schools?

I am really struggling with the concept of him moving away from his current school and starting elsewhere incase he is behind etc - has anyone had a similar experience and how did your kids cope?

He would be in Y1 in England as to the rest it will vary from school to school. Some will be very much as you describe, others may or may not have golden time (personally I hate it). In Y1 he will get a free piece of fruit/veg for playtime snack and school may or may not allow snacks from home and may or may not restrict certain foods from lunch boxes - many stipulate no fizzy drinks for example.
