Independent Primary Schools in the Barnet area??

I am considering sending my DD to an independent primary school as the state schools within our catchment area are not suitable. I do not want a very regimented, strict and old fashioned school such as those that are in Mill Hill and rather one that is high on academia as well as sport and extra curicular activities. I also have a yonger son as well so am looking at co-ed. Any thoughts on Lyonsdown, Manor Lodge and Aldernam? Are there any closer than the last two? TIA

These are three very different schools that you have mentioned. Manor Lodge is academically strong though they stream early and noticeably and the clubs are mostly externally provided at additional cost. Lyonsdown is a small, all-round local school that nurtures children and has good outcomes for the girls but boys leave at 7 so you have to face the 7+ for your son.. I know Aldenham the least well but know families who are very happy with it and think it's very nurturing too.

Other independents in the area include Grimsdell (Mill Hill) which is supposed to be good and feeds Belmont and Mill Hill all the way to A levels.
