Sorry it's another writing level one.

Ds wrote this on his own. The letters are all formed ok but big and all the 't's are in capitals.

I wt to the prc. I pyd on the swigs. I fell off the swig. I crid.

It says 'I went to the park. I played on the swings. I fell off. I cried.

He put his full stops in. Is this a P8 or a 1c?

We still use APP, so achieve a level 1C the child needs to achieve three out of four from these AFs (AF5, AF6, AF1 and AF2)
AF 5 - Reliance on simple phrases and clauses. Some sentence-like structures formed by chaining clauses together i.e. series of ideas joined by repeated use on “and”
AF 6 - Mostly grammatically accurate clauses. Some awareness of use of full stops and capital letters e.g. beginning/end of sentences
AF 1 Basic information and ideas conveyed through appropriate word choice e.g. relating to topic. Some descriptive language , e.g. colour, size, simple emotion
AF2 Some indication of basic purpose, particular form or awareness of reader, e.g. label, story, message
Plus either of these (AF 7 or AF8)
AF 7 Mostly simple vocabulary. Communicates meaning through repetition of key words
AF8 Usually correct spelling of simple high frequency words. Phonically plausible attempts at words with digraphs and double letters. Sufficient number of recognisable words for writing to be readable, including e.g. use of letter names to approximate syllables and words
Plus some of the handwriting aspect - Most letters correctly formed and orientated. Spaces between words. Upper and lower case sometimes distinguished. Use of ICT, e.g. use keyboard to write own name.

So probably not quite a 1C yet on that single piece of evidence.

Thanks!
It's the first time he's tried to write sentences rather than individual words so I was quite pleased he'd had the inclination anyway!
I think I will encourage him to learn some more of the hfw because his class seem to be crawling through them, we've only had 6 sent home so far.
