primary schools in Dorking, Surrey

Hey, we are moving to dorking and I am after some advice on what primary schools are best. We have one daughter and would prefer small classes. We have heard north downs in brockham is good? Any info/advice would be gratefully received.

Hmm clarkey there are a number of schools in the Dorking area that have been through turbulent times and North Downs is one of them. The Brockham community kicked up big style when the school amalgamated with another one in 2010. Since then the school has really struggled to recruit a good quality Headteacher and they have gone through 5 in three years. The current incumbent came out of retirement to try and give some stability but she will go soon and they will be back to square one. They had a Satisfactory Ofsted in 2011 and the last visit report was not very encouraging. Your information about the school is perhaps a bit out of date because it is fair to say that it was very progressive and well thought about 10 years ago. I would look elsewhere if I were you. As I said earlier it is a tricky area but I am sure others will give you more info on schools in Dorking. We went to the independent sector in the end.

Thank you for that, very helpful. Hopefully someone else will recommend some other schools. I have been reading up on them. St Michaels looks good.
