Sounds in reception

How many sounds would you expect a reception child to have learned by now, or how many have they learned in your child's school?

We have 10 sounds in our sound book, and are going no where fast! I'm aware it's a marathon, not a sprint, but...

DD has 24 sounds now. She has a little key ring with them all on that comes home in her book bag. We also get books - some dc are still getting the ones without words in and others are motoring through the pink band ones. Lots of differentiation, which is good as it's a YR/Y1 mixed class. 10 (or 4) sounds slow to me.

She gets key words to learn as well though - like she, go, I, said. I think this has helped with her reading in combination with the 'sounds'. I'm very pleased with her school so far Smile

DS1 seems to have done about 25 ish or so. He is on the reading books with no words at the moment.
