Help with literacy

Dear all. My DS1 is in year 4 and having some issues grasping what is meant by a complex sentence. I am dyslexic and finding it tricky to help. Please can anyone suggest links or a simple explanation that will allow me to help him. Thank you.

Might be worth posting this on the staffroom board and getting a primary teacher's input (I teach adults so not sure how they're explained/taught in ks2).
