we are looking to move to the area in Jan 2014 and I want to find a small family friendly prep school in the area, we've seen various websites but it would be great if someone could recommend any.

I'm still looking and someone has mentioned Danes Hill but that the Headmaster is due to leave this year. Does anyone know anything as others say its the best thing that could happen to the school - what's the storey?

Danes Hill is a good school but NOT small. I no longer have friends with children there so have no information on the story.

Have you been to look at Kingswood House Ewell Castle or Downend yet?

My Ds x2 are at Danes Hill. Not small but am first to sing it's praises. They are both thriving. Didn't know Head was leaving?? That escaped me!

I've now heard at a dinner party this weekend that Downsend is to close two of their lodges which is apparently their Nursery & younger years, what is going on with these schools?

Downsend lodhe was always a bit of a issue as it is on a private residential road. I used to live close to it -walking distance and it created a lot of issues. I would suspect that the school has decided to move to their main premises.

I will admit that it was tge way the school dealt with local residents that made us not consider the school when we picked. However I have hsd friends with children there who have been happy.

Kingswood house from what I can see on their website is expanding.
