Reading and writing levels- how much should they correlate?

Dd age 8 is a great reader. Loves books, reads quickly and with good comprehension and can have a good discussion about what she has read. She does not like writing, holds the pen too tight, presses a bit hard and struggles to get the words on paper. Teacher realised this a few months ago and is trying to get her to work to the same standard in writing as reading. Which is fine.
The problem is that a few times now she seems to think she has produced a good piece of work and teacher disagrees and so she has to do it again at home. I feel it is all getting a bit negative and am worried she'll be put off trying.
Any advice on how to tackle this? As far as DD is concerned I discuss why the teacher isn't happy and back him up. But I think he just thinks she is being lazy when she isn't .
