Advice on in year admissions please

I am asking on behalf of a friend who has a child in year 6. They have unexpectedly come back to the UK and need a place in year six for their child.

I believe the rules have changed a little as of Sept. Does anyone know what the current regulations are?

In some areas in-year admissions are now done by the school and not the LA. She needs to contact the LA to find out.

They need to contact their LA with their local address and see what places there are free in their local area. Some schools have now chosen to take control of their in-year applications directly since Sept 13, so it is worth ringing the local ones, but the LA should be able to tell her which ones they are. It's anticipated that most will still let the LA do it.

They also need to be aware that they need to apply for secondary very soon too - deadline is Oct 31st I think!

Absolutely nothing on the website of course. Only info on secondary in year admissions.

There should certainly be information on the process for primary in year admissions. There should also be full information on the secondary admissions round since we are approaching the deadline for applications. If you can't find it let me know which council we are talking about and I'll take a look.

It is Lambeth. I could only find secondary in year admissions.

It is all here. There doesn't seem to be anything on primary in year admissions but secondary admissions for 2014/15 (i.e. to start in September 2014) and secondary in year admissions are there.

NynaevesSister · 15/10/2013 16:20

Yes that's all I could find too. Ah well that's for taking a look!
