They have asked for "the last report" - errr, she is not even 4 and we don't have reports!

Do your nurseries give out reports?

Err, no!! How ridiculous.

CountessDracula · 30/06/2006 21:18

So what do I do?

Ask for a fake report?

If they are ofsteded they will be keeping some sort of record to show how shes progressing towards the early learning goals of the foundation stage...they have to.

CountessDracula · 30/06/2006 21:19

yy we have parents evenings etc, just never had a formal report

I'm sure if you ask for one they will give one - you won't be the first to come accross this.

Or, write one yourself

brimfull · 30/06/2006 21:21

just tell them that your dd's nursery don't do them.

hulababy · 30/06/2006 21:25

Our nusery doesn't have reports, but they do keep a "Foundation for learning" record of DD's progress - I think all nurseries do don't they? I think this was passed onto DD's school recently - she starts prep in September. It was certainly looked at and discussed, amongst other things, when DD's new teacher visited her nursery last month.

hulababy · 30/06/2006 21:26

CD - have they asked you for it, or nursery? DD's school has dealt directly with nursery over these things.

hoxtonchick · 30/06/2006 21:29

we have termly reports from nursery. and parent-teacher meetings. they talk about acheivement in all areas of the curriculum. fair enough for ds who's 4, but it makes me snigger a bit for dd who's only just 1....

you going private then cd?

CountessDracula · 30/06/2006 21:33

Currently undecided Hox but am going to apply for both.

A lot of Nuseries do give out reports. My last Nusery and the one I work at now do this. Especialy for children moveing up to school. Just ask yur nusery I they should be happy to give you one.

Ladymuck · 01/07/2006 18:06

CD - It seems to be a matter of course that the nursery/preschool forwards a report to school once they move on. I think some schools ask for this at application time, but it shouldn't be an issue for the nursery to forward it.

That said, can't see that it will be that useful for the school at this stage. Children develop in such spurts right now that a report from last Easter would seem hopelessly out of date...

We got one from the school nursery today and it said we had to pass it on to their reception teacher. It was very basic - said when she acheived certain goal and had a written page by the teacher - it was lovely to read!
