Just a quick update - we won the appeal at stage one.
Thank you all for advice and support. I did feel slightly sorry for the LA rep whose face sank slightly when we asked him to give us a few days to decide if we really want the place. I want the place, but now DS needs to get comfortable with the idea. Currently he doesn't want to move, which I can understand - it came out of the blue as we hadn't told him about the appeal. I think a few days and playing football with children from the appeal school will make him realise that he does know children there, we just hadn't been distinguishing between the schools that his football mates go to.
