Altrincham primary schools

Hi, just moved into the area of timperley (stamford brook estate) and confused as to were to send my 3yr old boy for primary schooling.
We were lucky to get a place for him at park rd academy nursery, but they're so strict on their catchment areas that I am 100% sure we wont get a place there for the infant school. Plus they are heavily over suscribed as it is such a good school.
Broadheath is in my catchment area, but I really dont want my son to go there (no offence to any parents that currently have children there). Its previous 4yrs of SATS results have not be great and as I am sure most parents will empathise we only want the best for our children.
Only option if we dont get into park rd, is to send him private. Having recently moved into the area and so have just registered him, were quite low down on their waiting lists. Didnt realise trafford was so competitive, which children being registered as soon as they are born!
Been looking at hale prep, alt prep, st ambrose prep and forest prep... Can anyone offer any advice on which one they feel is the best? Getting personal experiences/reviews from parents is so much more valuable then just visiting the prep schools because all their results are quite good so makes it difficult for us to choose which one (that is praying we even get into one of them!).

Altrincham and Hale prep as far as I know are hugely oversubscribed- basically need to get their name down at birth. If considering private, what about Cheadle Hulme School? I went there and highly recommend it. Hope this is some help.

Ah thank you, havent heard of that school but going to find out about it now!

i live in the area - basically stamford brook estate is zoned for Broadheath Primary. Altrincham/Hale prep are not that bad our sons name was down at 4 and he was offered a place at both we just decided on Forest Park instead

Can I ask what made you choose forest? I personally prefer Forest aswell, having visted all 3 prep schools, I like the atmosphere there.

we went for Forest Park in Sale, much friendlier and getting the best out of each individual rather than banging on about exam results etc, we weren't keen on Forest in Timperley (although it is closer to our home) it just didn't have the same atmosphere and the head booked us in the diary for the wrong date and tried to say we had it wrong - why would i book an appointment on a day i am in work???

Called forest park today and they're full for sept 2014 reception class, but my sons no.3 on the waiting list. Compared to hale prep & aps, hes their no.20-something!!
Fingers crossed he may get a place a forest park soon.

Hi My son is due to go into key stage 2 in the altrincham area. We live out of the area and I am looking for a recommendation for an outstanding school for a shy, fun loving 'boy' who hates serious teaching and loves to learn having fun. Anyone any suggestions as to which school to apply for? I want him to get to grammar school, but enjoy the journey! Here's hoping you have the answer.......

Hi, I've also been doing lots of research on schools, I did a cheeky ring round and found that Forest Park, Sale have got places for reception 2014 (no waiting list) - apparently a couple of families are relocating. Very happy! I agree with retropops, individual attention and new playground apparently finished just in time for Sept 14.
