Dd is y6 and statemented. Tomorrow is her IEP meeting and I'm looking for ideas for strategies to increase her independence.
We have made big strides anyway so she now goes into school unaccompanied and sorts her own bags/coats/books etc and she comes out of school with her things with only the occasional prompt (usually when there is extra to bring home) She collects and returns the register each afternoon, she can speak up for herself now instead of needing a trusted adult to pass on information.
Ideally I'd like to work on her meeting me at the other side of the playground rather than outside the classroom door because she seems genuinely terrified to be alone outside of the classroom door (probably because of lots of people milling about)
Any thoughts or ideas on other things we can tackle particularly with a view to her being y7 next year? She has no academic or behavioural needs so IEP's do tend to be nit picking a lot of the time anyway.
