Can anyone recommend a good app for teaching phonics sounds?

I have tried to get a decent app from iTunes but they are American and don't sound out the sounds like we do at our school. C is Cee and not C as in Cut iyswim?

Do you lovely ladies know of any which would help my reluctant to write ds4?

Second Hairy letters - also Pirate Phonics. Hairy letters good for practising writing them and pirate one for recognising.

CBeebies have start launching some apps and I'm pretty sure that they do an Alphablocks one.

Not an 'app', but a very good book for supporting phonics and spelling is the Oxford Phonics Spelling Dictionary, £5.66 from Amazon, and you can view sample pages HERE and it is suitable for use throughout the primary years and beyond.

Sorry - it looks like Amazon have recently increased the price a bit, now £6.47.

Pocket phonics is fab.

Mr Thorne does Phonics has a range of apps. All British and developed using letters and sounds.

Grasshopper apps have a range which is fully customisable, so you can record your own phonics (as we did)

In addition to Hairy Phonics (the groovy tune at the end is so worth playing the game all the way through) and Pirate phonics (though I hate the ladies voices dd doesn't mind) there is Forest Phonics, which is good for the later digraphs & trigraphs, Phonics with letter lilies which gets dc to listen for sounds in words and then pick the correct spelling for that sound (rewards are seeds that turn into flowers), phonics genius is the most customisable app that lets you record your voice and create your own word lists (as well as having a huge amount already created), finally Pearsons 'check your phonics' follows the national phonics check type format, let's you build a robot in 4 parts, uses nonsense as well as real words and has a cute kid as the voice over.
