Thoughts appreciated.

Hello there
Yes I had seen your name pop up in relation to Lyceum posts. Would love some more details if you dont mind?! Do you still have a child there? How long have you been with the school?

We are moving from Sydney to London at the end of the year. We have 2 boys (7 and 5) who we need to place in schools. Needless to say trying to work out a good school that we can actually get into at this late stage is proving very difficult!

We are going to be living near Regents Park/Baker St tube and will be working near Moorgate. So ideally hoping for a school near home or work.

Lyceum looks interesting to me from the web.. .but so hard to tell remotely. Am particularly concerned about the descriptions of being in a basement/lack of light/lack of outdoor facilities. My hubby is also a bit sceptical about the lack of exams/ focus on music/arts. It is not that we are particularly academic focussed but we do want the boys to reach their potential. Also...whilst not fully explored, we dont think the boys are particularly arty/musical!! On the other hand we do feel the boys need plenty of physical activity to get rid of all that excess energy they seem to have.

The before/after school care and proxmity to work are very appealing. We could potentially get away without a nanny and could also pop in for assemblies etc.

It is going to be a big move and such a massive change for the boys.. they are currently used to lots of space and an outdoor lifestyle - I know that will be a big adjustment whichever school we look at. It does seem that all London schools have fairly limited facilities - understandable given we are in the middle of such a major city!

One other factor is that in Sydney children dont start school until 5/6 versu 4yo in UK. So both boys will be behind their peers... am hoping to find a school that can really help them with this transition. So a caring individual focus would be great!

anyway... just realised I have probably told you way more than you ever wanted to know!!

Any feedback you can provide on your experience of Lyceum would be great! Nothing like a first hand review.
