Help!! DS year 3 has brought home really easy spellings - should I talk to teacher

Compared to the spellings that he had last year these are really easy - he says he saw someone elses spellings and they were longer words. I would like to speak to the teacher if nothing else just to put my mind at rest, but don't want to appear pushy or like I am being critical. I know that the kids are grouped on ability, but in year 2 the majority of the class including my son were all doing the same phonics and spellings, he wasn't struggling with this.

Any advice of how to handle this?? thanks!!

Be happy you have slightly less homework to deal with.

Did your son find them easy!

DS (yr4) came home with a really easy set of spellings last week.

Tbh I am just glad we have a week off

They will probably crank things up over the next few weeks.

DD just started her year 3 and got her first week's homework. They are split into different ability groups, but you can see from the work sheet which groups are supposed to do which bits, so if you are good enough to strech a bit, you always can not only finish your ones , but also the ones for higher ability group. (I think it is great, as least I know what they are learning and where she is in the whole class!)

She's got days, months and 4 seasons as spelling task and writing 5 sentences from those words above.

spoke to teacher they have had a little test from which she has grouped on ability rather than looking at where they were last year. She said if he continues to do well will put him in the next group, why do I get so worked?? up all ok and quite happy now, thanks!
