Primary Waiting Lists - Please give me hope!

Does anyone ever leave schools in the autumn? DC is number 1 on the waiting list for Y3. School is outstanding and really fantastic so can't see anyone leaving unless they move out of the area. There are 96 in the year. Anyone got similar experience/a crystal ball???

Balls are usually hairy, not crystal!

There may have been no shows at the start of term, though, and they need to check the family's intentions before removing a place and reordering it. This can take a while (4-6 weeks (?) to make all reasonable efforts - can be quicker if a family responds promptly) so there may still be hope.

I've checked with the school. All of them turned up - aaaggghhhh!!!!

tiggytape - you are right that there is no way of knowing. I'm just impatient and in a strop that she's not got in when it's only 200metres up the road! Plus other child is at that school and doing 2 drop offs and pick ups is a stressful logistical nightmare. Our fault for moving to the area in the spring and having to do in-year applications. The school is the best in town so not much chance of swapping and I don't think people here have the money to go private.

Are you actually in Charlton SE London Charltonchick? If you are, I'd say that you are probably in an area of fairly high movement. People are always moving out of London for bigger houses, etc. Also, worries about teenagers in London, secondaries in the borough tend to drive people relocating in the junior years (not saying those fears are well founded BTW...) I'm sure someone go will sooner or later.
