Y1 - spelling

I'm just wondering what the norm is for year 1 pupils to be doing in the way of spelling. Thank you

DS has 10 spellings a week to learn and a spelling test. They seem to be around a phonics 'theme' - for example this week is is 'th', 'ch' and 'sh' words. He's also had some homework over the weekend to do 'look, cover, write, check' with about six words that I suspect he has used during the week in his writing - cinema, bike, friend etc.

We got nothing.

Nothing yet. We have a "meet the teacher" thing this week where he will set out plans and expectations so might find out more then.
