Starting reception and toilet

DD is starting reception this week. Are you allowed to pack wet toilet wipes in their bags, just worrying a bit about getting clean after number 2s?!

I imagine she would need presence of mind to take them with her when she goes to the loo.....which prob won't happen.

Of course you would be allowed to pack them, but:

  1. They aren't flushable, so I doubt they would encourage their use
  2. Doubtful she will remember them in a hurry
  3. She will learn

Cool thanks Loopy, thought so.

Mine (started school at 3, we live abroad) only pooed once at school. She didn't wipe well. Hasn't gone at school since (is over 4 now)

I teach mine the mantra "1,2,3,check".... 3 pieces of paper to wipe with and check the last one comes away clean, if not wipe again. No marks in pants in either DS's age 4 & 5. I understand that wipes can block toilets very easily so perhaps not popular at school.

In our house, poos seem to be mysteriously synchronised! Regardless of what time each child eats or volume. One wants to go, another does, then other family members. Freak of nature or what! Perhaps thes a link, in the same way women collectively sharing a house can all menstruate at the same time eventually.

Anyway, my daughter insists she's never pooped at school since Reception. Same as babies just don't poo in the night either. She says she doesn't hold it in, she just doesn't need to go.

Worst case scenarios (like when they're at nursery):

1)They poop their pants in class. Someone notices the smell and teacher or more likely teaching assistant takes them off to the loo for a clean up and spare clothes that school keeps. I read that TAs or teachers are not allowed to do this, but it's nonsense, secret squirrel and I know they do..

2)They go to the loo by themselves and just don't wipe very well. No big deal really.

nothing to worry about, see :)
