Hi,

I am moving to london in January 2014 and I need some help figuring out which schools to apply for. We are flexible in terms of location but want to be in zone 2 if possible. Also, we are looking at private schools. They are both currently in IB schools in Year 5 and Year 2.

!) My first question is: If I am looking at north london, what are the top co-ed schools?

  1. IF we are going to put them in separate boys and girls schools, I need good schools where the boys and girls are nearby. I know Haberdash Ask is one such school. What other schools should i consider?

  2. If I am looking at West and southwest of london, some question - top coed schools or top girls/boys schools that are close to each other.

  3. I know it is middle of the year, but if i have an idea of where I want to put them eventually, then I can narrow down the neighborhood to stay in.

Thanks so much for your help.
Anita

It's going to be tricky moving mid-year and at the ages of your kids. I should think Habs is unlikely mid-year and practically impossible for your older child until 11+ as the year 5/6 classes are just sitting tight at this point.

Your 5 year old had a better chance as there is more movement when people realise they don't have the stomach for these schools or they don't suit their kids.

Why not try for the Mill Hill schools, e.g. Grimsdell and Belmont and then decide on next steps? Even then, mid-year entry will be hard. Could you delay your move to Sept?

If your IB school is abroad they usually have a member of staff who advises on school transfers. If not, there may still be someone at the school willing to help. Alternative,y, contact Gabbitas for a consultation to help find appropriate schools with vacancies.
Good luck.
