I don't know what size school uniform to buy.

School uniform question:

My school branded uniform provider has exceptionally awkward opening hours so I want to buy it online.
They offer a size 3 - 4 years in 25 inch chest, and 5 - 6 years in a 26 inch chest.
Dd is a 22 inch chest. 25 inches seems very generous for a size 3 - 4.

The supplier says nothing about arm length or the torso length of the jumpers but I'm thinking that even if the arms / waist are longer on the 5 - 6 it's going to look really silly if the chest is huge and baggy, and of course, when she grows into the chest the arms and waist will be too short??

What size would you choose based on your school uniform purchasing experience?

Personally I always buy a size bigger as most school jumpers tend to shrink after one wash.

That does seem large for a size 3-4. My DC1 was in 3-4 last year and I'm sure the chest size was 22-24.

Don't know what to suggest, sorry!

My DS is just 4, but pretty tall for his age. We ordered a 26" but it was ridiculously huge on him so we swapped for 24" (which says 3/4 on the label!) which is still a bit baggy and we have to roll the sleeves up, but that was the smallest they did.
However, his 26" polo shirt isn't too bad on him.

By DS is 6 with a 20 inch chest but is quite tall. I had to order the age 7-8 for length and it fits him in length and just looks baggy, but not silly.
Order the small size, on the first day of term most children look like they are wearing a uniform which is a bit big on them, but by the end of the year most look like the uniform has shrunk!!

My DS is almost 6, he is very slim and 112cm, he still fits in the 3/4 school wear! The 5/6 last year just looked stuid on him, no idea what chest he is though!

We had a choice of 3-4 or 5-6 too. The 3-4 looked very small though so went for 5-6 (ds still in 3-4 normal clothes) as we bought logoed jumpers and polo shirts so I want him to get the wear out if them! They are big on him, but he'll grow!

I bought 3-4 things for my DD and they are on the large side. The branded polo shirts are particularly massive (sleeves almost down to her elbows!) She is quite petite though.

DD usually wears 5/6 year old clothes, her uniform is 24" and is slightly baggy and the arms are a little long, except her white roll neck which is 26" as we couldn't get the 24" over her head, that comes down to half way down her thighs like a short dress Grin
