School uniform - anyone found any bargains?

I'm guessing with how over-priced some uniform shops are that lots of parents are looking round for the cheapest uniform they can get, so anyone feel like sharing their wisdom?

I'm after plain long sleeve white polo necks and dark red tights for dd (4) and navy blue trousers and navy blue PE shorts for ds (9)

asda had packs of 3 pairs of red tights for £5 yesterday when we were in there.

not seen white polo necks anywhere. I am trying to get hold of a pack of 3 blouses, sainsburys do them but they never have them in stock. I want 5 in total so the fact everywhere else sells them in pairs is annoying me. I have one pair so just need another 3. same with tights - I don't want 6 pairs but 3 isn't enough. why can't they do a pack of 5. sorry - that wasn't helpful.

Polo shirts or polo necks ? I've not seen any polo necks - not usually school uniform around here, but Aldi had some very good offers on uniform a couple of weeks ago - might have some bits left ?

All the supermarkets are crazy cheap this year. Morrisons new clothing range too.

Thanks Periwinkle, thats a lot better than £7 a pair from the uniform shop! The pack sizes is quite annoying, I've only seen packs of 2 as well.

polo necks :( judging by how hard they seem to be to get hold of i'm guessing not many schools wear them round here either

insanity £9 is actually considerably cheaper than going through the uniform shop so I might go grab 1 from there so I can check the size before ordering off Ebay (not that I don't know what size my daughter is in inches honest...)

School uniform 247 have some polo necks for £4.50 if anyone else is looking but p&p is expensive so only worth it if you are after a few, they also have lots of colours of tights, football socks and knee high socks, as well as scarves, painting aprons, PE bags etc if anyone else has a school that's chosen a stupid colour... (seriously dark red, burgundy or maroon, why school? why? what's wrong with normal red?)
