Help with summer homework?

Can someone help me ?
I just can't solve the problem:
find the product of 9 and 14, if 9 is factor of 27?
Anyone,please?!

9x14=126
And 3x9=27
But whether that's what the question is on about heaven knows, it makes no sense to me.

Product means multiply.

Factors are numbers that divide exactly into another number e.g. the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.

Prime numbers only have 2 factors, itself and 1 e.g. 11.

However - I also don't really understand the question.

Doesn't it mean: IS 9 a factor of 27? Is it a typo?

the "if 9 is a factor of 27" is either irrelevant or a different question, imho.
as you've posted in primary, it's presumably not supposed to be a trick question
two separate issues. as others have already said, product means multiply, which appears to be the first part.

at primary level we teach/explore factors of a large number, for example 48 is an easy one, and the children see if they can find all the factors (2,4,6,8,12,24 etc)

very odd wording...

If it's primary school homework that has been set for the summer holidays I would bin it.!!! It's HOLIDAY time. If they say you have to do it then they can't complain about you taking the kids out of school during term time!!

Even more confused!!!!! It is under "Multiply or divide", it's a y6 homework-we have to do it because she wants it on the first day of y6 to be handed in or detention will follow { I am serious} !!!! It's a whole booklet full of tasks- if I don't start now she wont manage to do it- when I say there is a lot -I mean it!!! Some parts are easy but some just like this question -just plain confusing!?!?
I wrote a question as it is-no more no less!?
Another one we just got stuck is - If the answer is 20 how can I combine these digits :2,4,3 and 8???

hell of a demand for primary school and do they really give after-school detentions? i would be tempted to leave it and say 'bring it on'.
as for the last q., what about 3 x 4 = 12 plus eight is 22 minus 2 is twenty?

The only thing that makes sense to me (though this is very long winded...):

27 = 3*9

14 = (4*3) + 2

149 = (4(39)) + (29)

    = (4*27) +18 etc

ie using the fact that 3*9 = 27 to make the sum 'slightly' easier, instead of having to do long multiplication

But I'd rather do long multiplication, myself.

And I have nothing to do with education, so I may have missed the point spectacularly. Apologies if so!

Yes, believe me,they do give detentions and they are very strict when it comes to it!
Part of me feel sorry for DD , she is really trying so hard ,bless her!!!!

The summer holidays are being spent dancing!

Last week - dance school bi annual show
This week residential dance summer school
Next week put on a show in a week summer school
Week after - holiday
Week after - ballet summer school
Week after - bank holiday.

I'd send a note in saying holidays are for bring on holiday nor homework. Tough titties!!!!

in the head's office with a letter of complaint on the first morning back (and maybe see if HT approved the said workbook?)
I did not give my class holiday homework (the clue is in the word "holiday") and none of my own three dc got any either.
Personally I would strangle speak to the head.

Plus I work full time so not all kids will have parents able to do this I'd they are in child are/ holiday clubs.

Just write on it Dd hasn't been taught this yet.

Then enjoy the holidays.

Their job to teach it. Homework to reinforce/practise; not teach it from scratch.

I know!!! I work 3 full days and it's just mentally draining!!!!!!

As I said, my "explanation" may have nothing to do with what they're after, but it was the only way I can make it make sense. And I remember a friend explaining the "new" way of teaching multiplication many years ago (breaking everything down to units and tens, and multiplying, then adding it all up again at the end) which seemed to be cause more bother than it saved, so this may just be an example of that.

But I dunno. Just leave it and let the teacher teach it when your DD goes back, maybe?????

I am starting to doubt in my knowledge - i just can't do (what i thought simple) maths. Just can't work it out!!!
Is there anyone who is using tutors? I do understand now why parents turn to extra help! My DD daughter level in maths is 5B but i can tell it's probably not realistic 'cause i would think she should be able to do her hm unlike her DM who needs to take and calm down........

2 + 3 = 5
8 - 4 = 4

5*4 = 20

(I won't admit how long I've been staring at that!)
