My dd has just got her report. Lots of lovely comments. One comment has confused me, "dd has grown in maturity and has worked hard to maintain friendships". What do you think it means? TIA :-)

I would have thought it meant not having silly little squabbles every other day and being a loyal friend. DD1 has struggled this year a bit.

Sounds fine, she has put effort into keeping friends... Don't you think they've all matured quite a lot in reception?

They've definitely matured, I'm amazed at how much more independent they are at the end of reception compared to the start. It was more the second part of the comment "put a lot of effort into maintaining friendships"...

Well you could read that a few ways...
Negative - she has to try hard to get friends
Positive - she knows more about how to make friends than some and uses these skills well
Neutral - the teacher has spent much less time writing this than we all would spend reading it and didn't make the wording precise enough

I would see that as a positive thing. That she has gained the maturity to put silly squabbles into prospective and not allowed them to get in the way of her friendships.
At that age some children come out with a new "best friend" every day.
