EYFS - moving from nursery to reception?

Just wondering if your September born child leaves nursery with the assessment that she is secure in the ELGs what will happen in reception? Will they start using the NC assessment or would they automatically wait until Yr1? How much differentiation is normal in reception? For example would you expect all children to automatically get the the same reading books for the whole year (pink band?)

my eldest is just finishing reception and was classed as secure in everything at the end of preschool. She has done everything the same as the rest of the class except her home reading book which started at book band 5 because that was what she was reading at the time. She did phonics with everyone else, started numberwork from scratch etc.

In some ways it would have been good to have started at her level as she will inevitably have repeated some stuff but this way at least we know there are no gaps in her knowledge and she has a good solid foundation.

The teachers will differentiate as the year goes on, some kids will start not reading or writing but will pick it up incredibly quickly and possibly catch up with a child who can do both within a few months. others will find it harder to get going.

they won't automatically go on to yr1 stuff because they need to be absolutely certain the child knows everything to start with. There is a lot of general learning in reception.

In reception my son's year finished the year with variation between children still on pink band and several on green or orange. Each child was taught to their ability and not expected to coast until the others caught up. Now at the end of Y1 my DS is reading lime and there are some children still on red (I read with them which is how I know this)
