Handwriting

Hi all, my lo can write with a pencil, but has shown an interest in learning joined up writing. My query is, do you start them off using a pencil to grasp this or is it best to start using a pen? If it is best to use a pen, any suggestions on the best one to use? Thanks.

I teach joined up hand writing in pencil. Don't think it makes a lot of difference really - whatever they're most motivated to use.
