Yr 1 report-or lack of!

Is it usual to not get a report at the end of yr 1? Reception class got them as did yr 2 but when I asked DDs class teacher she told me theirs only go out in February as they are more accurate then. She told me Im welcome to chat about DD anytime, which I dont need to do as shes chugging away quite nicely but it just seemed unusual. Will however be asking about the phonics test.

Did you get one in Feb? Parents are legally ( ?) entitled to one written report a year, but it doesn't matter when. It seems strange that not all the classes do the same thing though.

Schools must send out at least one report a year. Most send it out at the end of the school year but it could be sent at any time.

Very odd! Never heard that one before.
Did you get one in February?
You really should have been made aware of this before the last week of term.

Yes, got one in February. Only asked where it was as everyone was posting about phonics test results and I assumed DDs would come with her report.

Don't know-playing Devils Advocate here...Surely it is more preferential to receive a report mid year when you can actually do something about it, rather than in the last week of term, when you can't? Good on the teacher for saying you can contact them anytime as that seems most sensible.

thats weird. our primary school send all year reports out in July,

mrz · 16/07/2013 06:46

Most schools do send out reports at the end of the year but to be honest it's more effective to identify possible issues early and work on them than waste a year just as Blissx says.
