I posted a while back about getting my dd a place at the school her db has been allocated. I gave up on the phoning everyday route when I eventually found out that the school wanted four children to leave before offering a place. I have my appeal at the end of the week. The LA points are:
listed building toilets and cloakrooms cannot be created - e.g. 90 children using one cloakroom area - impacts on H&S, behaviour and delivery of teaching (via delays)
playgrounds and lack of green space - playground area small for no. of pupils at school [seems vast in comparison to her present school]. Playground accessed via two staircases and doors - leads to accidents and behaviour problems. H&S monitoring has shown increase in nos. of accidents on playground as pupil nos. have increased.
dining area at capacity. Resource implication in employing additional MSA.
movement of pupils around building school records a number of trips due to overcrowding.
larger class sizes -effect on education since increasing pupil nos. over last few years KS1 SATs results have decreased [this doesn't seem to be the case - my dd's large year had better results on 2/3 subjects than the previous small year group]
Those are the main points. The PAN for the school is 45. My dd's year group started at 52 in reception. It now has 47: its lowest level.
Would be very grateful for ant comments. Thanks.
