Failed Phonics Test Yr1

My DS yr1 teacher has called me in for a meeting next monday to discuss his phonics test. None of the other mums that I know have received this request so I am assuming that he has failed his test Sad.

Can anyone give me any advice on what to expect from this meeting. Thanks.

If it's that your child hasn't passed the level required, I'm guessing the teacher will discuss areas where your child's foundation learning is shaky (it could simply be one or two sounds that are consistently incorrect) and what he/she is going to do about it, and what you can do to help.

Don't be worried by this. Think of it as a lifeline, an extra opportunity to identify specific areas of learning that might otherwise be ignored. Your child will be tested again in Y2, to see if his phonics is solid. It's a good thing--once it clicks, it clicks.
