. . . and you are still waiting, patiently, by the look of it!
Hi, Alicia. I am a retired male Teaching Assistant, with over twenty years experience, mostly in Infant school (Key Stage 1), but also some in Junior (Key Stage 2), and two years in a tough secondary school.
Mostly I try and help parents with worries, misconceptions or difficulties in Literacy, particularly Phonics, and Numeracy, but I also occasionally contribute to items on music and computers (ICT).
I started as a voluntary 'parent helper' 25 years ago. One of the first little girls I helped with reading, turned up again 17 years later in a different school, when she was in her final year of Teacher Training practice; she qualified and has had her own class for 3 or 4 years now.
Some people on here are very experienced teachers, some are TAs (as I was), but most are parents - mostly mums, but some dads.
Are you a parent, or teacher? And may I be very rude and speculate that English is not your first language?
